Ken has over 20 years of general corporate and complex deal experience. Most recently, Ken led the
28 person legal team that supports Cisco Systems' sales in the US and Canada as well as globally to
Cisco's largest enterprise customers. In that role, Ken and his team negotiated strategic deals with
large enterprise customers, including the world's largest financial institutions (Bank of America, Royal
Bank of Scotland, Nomura), oil and gas companies (Shell), manufacturers (General Motors), retailers
(Home Depot) and local and national public sector entities. Ken was a member of the integration team
following Cisco's acquisition of Scientific-Atlanta.
Prior to Cisco's acquisition of Scientific-Atlanta, Ken was General Counsel for Scientific-Atlanta's
set top and transmission network divisions. In this role, Ken led negotiations with Scientific-Atlanta's
largest customers, investment partners and acquisition targets in the United States and abroad, requiring
extensive travel to Europe, the Middle East, China and Brazil. Representative work included:
- Scientific-Atlanta legal lead related to the establishment and ultimate restructure of a consortia
with large North American technology companies and European construction companies that constructed
and operated cable television enterprises in 2 regions of Germany.
- Lead negotiator for Scientific-Atlanta in the SBC (now AT&T) Project Lightspeed transaction.
- Structuring and negotiating Scientific-Atlanta's public takeover of a Belgian technology company
(Barconet) and serving on the Board of Directors of the acquired company.
- Evaluating and negotiating venture capital investments in conjunction with OEM arrangements
with Scientific-Atlanta suppliers in Silicon Valley, Southern California and the United Kingdom.
- Member of Scientific-Atlanta deal team related to the Cisco acquisition of Scientific-Atlanta.
Ken's also has extensive experience in international media content sales, licensing and distribution
developed while serving as Turner Broadcasting's Assistant General Counsel.
Prior to joining Turner Broadcasting, Ken was in private practice at King and Spalding in Atlanta
where he focused on intellectual property transactions work, as well as large firms in Baltimore
following his graduation from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1989.
